The products listed below have proven themselves to be leaders in the ever-evolving industry of outoor enjoyement.
If I use them, you can be sure that they are quality.
Each year it seems like dozens of new materials find their way into the marketplace, and dozens of others fade from sight. This turnover makes warranty work impossible. Thus, the products below have proven themselves benchmarks in the marketplace, and the manufacturers have shown a commitment to being around in ten or twenty years.
If you'd like to see these products first hand, give me a ring. My numbers appear below.
We're Now Installing Suncoast Screen Enclosures!
- Suncoast Screen Enclosures boast engineering to withstand the brutal weather of Alberta, Canada. Yet they are attractive and functional, offering the clean look and feel of powder-coated aluminum frames, with the functionality of a myriad of screen and roof options. Check the website here: www.Suncoastenclosures.com. And give me a call when you're ready for a better outdoor experience.
Top-quality Manufactured Decking
- TimberTech Widely regarded as the industry leader in alternative decking products, TimberTech is available in several different compositions. For our part, we're only using TimberTech's XLM (Extreme Low Maintenance) PVC decking. This is TimberTech's top-line offering, and trumps every other product out there. XLM's cellular PVC body is wrapped in a hard outer shell called a "cap stock," which they tell me is made of the same stuff that car bumpers are made of. While I am not an expert in car bumpers, I do know that XLM's cellular structure allows heat to dissipate quickly, and the cap stock allows more vibrant colors and a higher durability than a solid PVC board without the cap. The latest incarnation of XLM has variegated colors streaked to mimic real wood colors--beautiful stuff.
- 2011 AZEK update Here at DeckBuilder Custom Decks & Railings LLC, we take our decking seriously, and we stand behind every product we build. Unfortunately, over the past year, AZEK has not shown a committment to stand behind their product. And we have had several AZEK decks exhibit less-than-desirable performance characteristics. While the guys at AZEK keep telling me they've got my back, I have not seen action to satisfy my demand for answers. Thus, this year we're only installing TimberTech XLM. Any problem that I've ever had with TimberTech has been remedied immediately, professionally, and completely. You'd do well to stick with TimberTech too.

Railing
Certainteed Evernew: This is the only vinyl railing worth mentioning, as it is the only vinyl railing available today that meets my standards for structural integrity, and the only one that exceeds all municipal code requirements at all elevations. Reinforced top and bottom by internal aluminum U-beams, all fasteners are hidden within the 4"x4" vinyl post sleeves. And without the bulky brackets and visible screws that the competitors offer, EverNew railings offer a clean, crisp look. You can see this railing on virtually every deck posted at this site. I'll use no other vinyl railing product.
Other railing options: Most of the composite decking manufacturers offer railing components to match or contrast their deck boards. And there are a host of other railing options, including stainless steel, cable rail, glass baluster, glass panel, or architectural picket rails. The possibilities are endless, and only you can dictate the limits. But you'll need to call me first. My numbers are shown below.
