Welcome to the "current" page, where you can watch beauty blossom in someone else's back yard.

A simple phone call can make it happen in your yard too. My numbers are shown on the page bottom.

Our current work is coming together at the Walor residence, in Holmdel, New Jersey, where we deconstructed an old wooden deck that wasn't terribly functional nor attractive, and we ripped out the old concrete patio surrounding the in-ground pool. Our homeowners, Dave and Alexis, indicated that the cherry tree growing just off the deck was an important part of their backyard world. So we redesigned their outside living area with that tree as the central feature.

The Walors indicated that they wanted a more free-flowing access toward the pool. And they wanted a screen room to where they could escape the seasonal pests. With all that in mind, we're wrapping the cherry tree with wide sweeping stairs and an octagonal sitting area. And we'll custom-build a Suncoast Screen Enclosure (of which DeckBuilder has recently acquired New Jersey's exclusive dealership) on one end of the deck.

The 1,000 square foot, multi-level deck will feature AZEK Tahoe decking, ClearVue aluminum and stainless cable railing system, and lots of High Point Deck Lights (including uplighting into the cherry tree). We're also replacing the conrete patio with pavers, which will feature a fire pit with built-in seating.

Check the images below to watch the project come together. I'll offer comments here and there. But for the most part, the project evolution needs little description.

The first two shots are, of course, "before" images, where you can see the cherry tree and a sampling of the old concrete walkway.

Here, after some heavy demolition of the old deck, concrete patio & pool-surround, fence and shrubbery, we've begun resurrecting the entire back yard. We're overkilling the deck structure with way-more concrete and lumber than required. And we've nearly completed the pavers, which will eliminate physical and visual barriers between the house and the pool.

The pavers and firepit complete, the deck now begins to come into focus.

(And yes: Our good friends at Masterson Pools Inc. are coming in to de-green and close the pool, which has been stagnant for the duration of the project thus far.)
